The CFP (complement factor properdin) gene in humans encodes the protein known as properdin. A plasma glycoprotein called properdin stimulates the innate immune system's complement system. To stabilize the C3 and C5-convertase enzyme complexes and create an assault complex that results in the lysis of the cell, this protein attaches to the cell walls of bacteria and dying human cells. Patients with membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis and endotoxin-induced complement activation frequently exhibit low amounts of C3 pro-activator and alternative pathway activation. It is usually prescribed to patients with suspected/ having disorders of the Kidney. In case of kidney disorders-related symptoms, also this test is used.
